There are several good restaurants in Madeira. However, if you like to cook by yourself or need something for your daily needs, you will find a variety of shops of different sizes. We described three shops below which we often visit by ourselves.

A sua Mercearia. Distance: 800 Meter
The local village store in Arco da Calheta. You get everything you need, but the choice of products is sometimes a little limited. Temperature controlled goods, chilled or frozen food (butter, milk, packaged and fresh meat), fresh fruit and vegetables as well as daily fresh baked bread. Normally, regional or Portuguese products are offered.
It is possible to park directly in front of the store or along the main road.
There is a small café which recently added covered seating and a take-away.
Pingo Doce Supermarket
Distance: 7.3 Kilometer
You will find a wide range of products in this supermarket. From fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, meat and drinks, fresh bread, shower gel and hygiene products to pet food. There are also many imported products that are familiar and available at home.
Car parking is available on the beach promenade.
Please note: buy a parking ticket otherwise you will be fined.

In this large supermarket you find all the things you need for your daily needs. Fresh meat and fish. The range of fruit and vegetables is huge. From food to stationery, from tableware to cosmetics, you will find everything here.
